"Strings + One"
Several Hitchcock movies owe much suspense to composer Bernard Herrmann, who knew how to create tension and atmosphere with his music. In this moody selection of powerhouse pieces, PSO players Subaiou Carter, violin; Theresa Cleary, viola; Orlando Pandolfi, french horn; Johnny Mok, cello; Katrina Veno, clarinet; Nicole Wendl, violin and viola; and Tianhong Yang, piano will perform Souvenir de Voyage, Herrmann’s last concert piece. Paired with the first movement of Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B minor Op. 115 and other atmospheric works for “Strings + One,” this evening is moody—in the best sense of the word.
