Chamber concerts for the whole family
Join musicians from the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra for a fun, family-friendly concert that brings the world of string instruments to life! Our “Family Matinees” are designed especially for young audiences and their families. This interactive performance explores the sounds, styles, and versatility of the string family in an exciting and accessible way.
After the concert, stick around for hands-on activities. Kids can try out an instrument, color their own musical masterpiece, or even craft a mini violin out of pipe cleaners. A perfect introduction to classical music for curious minds!
Our 2025-2026 season concerts will be held at the Portsmouth Public Library at 175 Parrott Ave, Portsmouth at 3:00pm.
2025-2026 Events
Join PSO string players Ashley Offret (violin), Louise Kandle (violin), Karen McConomy (viola), and Eli Kaynor (cello) for an afternoon of classical music. The performance will last approximately 40 minutes. Stay after to color violin themed pictures, craft a pipecleaner violin, and for a touch-a-violin activity!
