2019-2020 Get Cozy Chamber Series

Revised program! Mary Towse-Beck presents a varied program of beautiful solo piano music ranging from Bach to Prokofiev. The program begins with Bach’s gorgeous G Major French Suite, with its heavenly Sarabande and joyous Gigue. This is followed by Beethoven’s antepenultimate Sonata in E Major, Opus 109 written in 1820, demonstrating a free and original approach to sonata form. Fast forward to very early 20th century and to Debussy’s beautiful Estampes (Prints), a multi- movement work that creates three different dreamscapes depicting Japan, Spain and France. The program ends tempestuously with Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 3, a one movement work that is a clear departure from a traditional sonata, and also contains Prokofiev’s most virtuosic writing for solo piano.
